Celebrating Accessibility Champions: 5 Minutes with…Michael from Treasury Wine Estates

Our clients are true advocates of accessibility and inclusion, going above and beyond to set the standard for diverse workplaces.

In our ‘5 Minutes With’ segment, we meet these remarkable individuals making a positive impact.

Meet Michael Perry, Treasury Wine Estate’s Disability Employee Resource Group Lead-ANZ and Enterprise Application Manager. We dive into his role, what a typical day is like, and how BindiMaps is helping them reach their accessibility goals!

Michael, can you tell us about your role at Treasury Wine Estates?

I am the Enterprise Application Manager for Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), leading a team of amazing people looking after some of our most critical business systems. I am also the Co-Lead for our Disability Employee Resource Group in ANZ, called “TWE Enable”.

What does your typical day look like?

My day is typically spent engaging with my people and my stakeholders. I truly believe that building and nurturing relationships is the number one key to success, especially in an enabling function like Digital and technology.

What does accessibility mean to you and Treasury Wine Estates?

Accessibility for TWE is ensuring that our people can have access to career opportunities and be able to show up and bring their whole selves to work. For our customers, it means they can enjoy our world-class premium wines with as few barriers as possible.

Why did you install BindiMaps?

We installed Bindi because it was a relatively easy, low-barrier solution to implement. We were just establishing TWE Enable at the time, and it was a great platform to launch and showcase what Accessibility could look like.

How has your experience with BindiMaps been?

The installation has been good. Our building owner also installed Bindi in the public areas of the building so users can effectively navigate from the front door all the way to their destination in our office on multiple floors seamlessly.

We’ve found as people are returning more to the office from working at home, they’re using Bindi to navigate unfamiliar spaces or find meeting rooms. We have also tagged our safety equipment such as defibrillators and fire extinguishers for ease of locating them and Bindi has been helpful with navigating a recent office reshuffle helping people locate each other.

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Talk about a hard question. So many to choose from. But I reckon for intro appeal it would be “You Get What You Give” by The New Radicals.

Thank you to Michael for generously dedicating his time to participate in “5 Minutes with You”.

By championing initiatives and collaborating with innovative solutions like BindiMaps, offices can enhance accessibility, empower employees, and foster an environment where everyone feels welcome.
