Accessible from the start – BindiMaps at Ability Fest 2026

BindiMaps was proud to support Ability Fest 2026 – Australia’s most inclusive live music festival – providing accessible wayfinding so every attendee could navigate the grounds with confidence.

Ability Fest, presented by Untitled Group, the Dylan Alcott Foundation, triple j and VIC Government, brought thousands of music lovers together at The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne on Saturday 11 April 2026. The festival is built on a simple but powerful idea: that live music should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.

Wayfinding Built for Everyone

Navigating a busy festival venue can be challenging at the best of times. For attendees who are blind, have low vision, or simply benefit from clear directions, the complexity multiplies fast. BindiMaps provided turn-by-turn accessible navigation throughout the Ability Fest site → available before the day even started.

Attendees could plan their journey from home, reducing the anxiety of arriving somewhere unfamiliar. Once on-site, audio and text directions guided people to stages, toilets, food, the bar, medical and accessible parking. The location sharing feature also meant attendees could find friends and meet others across the festival grounds.

The BindiMaps app was promoted directly in the official Ability Fest event guide sent to all ticket holders, ensuring those who needed it most could download it ahead of time and arrive prepared.

A Day of Music, Inclusion and Community

Ability Fest 2026 featured a packed lineup across the Main Stage and the TAC Silent Disco, with artists including Robert Baxter, daine, Surusinghe, Cooper Smith, Blusher, Noe, Djanaba, zzarni and more performing across the afternoon and evening.

The venue was thoughtfully designed with accessibility at its core → from dedicated accessible parking near the Plummer Street entrance to The Woodstore, The Workshop, a basketball court, merch, and a full food and bar offering spread across the site.

It was an incredible day to witness so many people come together, and a powerful reminder of what a truly inclusive event looks and feels like.
