BindiMaps was proud to support the Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation‘s Seeing into the Future Gala — a landmark evening that raised $380,000 to bring specialist eye care closer to home for people living in regional NSW.

The event was held on Friday 22 May 2026 at the Shangri-La Hotel in The Rocks, Sydney. More than a fundraising dinner, it was a declaration of intent: to transform how eye care is delivered across the state, starting right now.

The Cause: Tele-Vision
The evening’s centrepiece was Tele-Vision → a specialist virtual care model that uses high-resolution imaging to connect regional Emergency Departments with ophthalmologists at Sydney Eye Hospital in real time. The pilot will launch at Wollongong Hospital, with the goal of expanding 24/7 virtual ophthalmology consultation across NSW.
“Together, we can deliver rapid diagnosis and treatment, helping save sight 24/7 — and helping patients stay close to home.”
The need is urgent. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 40 and over experience vision loss at three times the rate of non-Indigenous Australians and 94% of that vision loss is preventable or treatable. Tele-Vision is a direct response to that inequity.

BindiMaps as Video Sponsor
BindiMaps was proud to serve as the exclusive Video Sponsor for the evening — helping bring the Foundation’s story to life across three screens on the night. Our Managing Director Bret Duckers and Executive Director Linas Jarasius attended in person, proud to be in a room united by shared belief in what’s possible when generosity meets purpose.
Compelling video does something powerful at events like this → it creates the emotional connection that turns attendance into action. We are glad our contribution helped move the room.
Wayfinding at the Shangri-La

We also mapped the Shangri-La venue with BindiMaps indoor wayfinding, so every guest could navigate with confidence – including planning their journey to accessible entry points before they even arrived. Accessible navigation does not stop at the hospital door, and it should not stop at the event venue either.
For an organisation dedicated to saving sight, it felt meaningful to ensure the evening itself was as accessible as possible.
