New Location: Griffith University Queensland

BindiMaps is now in Queensland, and we have our second university installation, Griffith University.

Installed in Griffith’s Logan Campus, BindiMaps covers several buildings and outdoor covered walkways, assisting people who are blind or vision impaired to independently find their way around campus, including destinations such as the campus’s library that houses the assistive technology room, the gym, cafe, bathrooms, the major campus auditorium and the Student Centre, which houses accessibility and disability services staff.

Coordinator, Disability Services Cathy Easte who, with Assistive Technology Officer Melissa Wortel championed BindiMaps at Griffith University.

The installation is thanks to Griffith’s Assistive Technology Officer Melissa Wortel and Coordinator, Disability Services, Cathy Easte, who worked with various university teams and BindiMaps to ensure stage one of the project went ahead.

The task now is to introduce the app to the university community including staff, students and visitors, and then expand this first stage to other parts of Logan Campus, and to the other five Griffith campuses in South East Queensland.

The Griffith University installation means that BindiMaps has locations in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, the ACT and now Queensland.
