If there is one set of places that absolutely should be accessible to everyone, it is public libraries. They provide such a great service to people of all abilities, providing a place to learn, to meet or just to hang out with a good book.
That’s why we are so proud and pleased to have mapped the National Library of Australia in Canberra recently.
The Library, which opened to the public in a COVID safe way in August, has a brief to ensure that documentary resources of national significance are collected, preserved and made accessible, and now the Library’s collections, exhibitions and events are more accessible than ever.
Visitors, including those with low vision, can now independently find their way around six floors of the library, including reading rooms, collections, the newspaper archive and the Library’s cafe and shop.
The Library is our second installation in Canberra after the Charles Perkins House office building, and we are talking to many more building owners and managers in Canberra and the ACT.
