PROJECT INFORMATION

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney (SVHS), sought an innovative solution to improve patient navigation, as traditional signage and wayfinding solutions were insufficient, resulting in poor patient experience and overreliance on staff for guidance.
SVHS aimed to enhance accessibility and patient satisfaction while reducing the burden on volunteers and staff. SVHS faced the challenge of inconsistent wayfinding information due to ongoing redevelopments, inadequate signage and maps that didn’t meet accessibility needs.

GOALS

1. Support patients and visitors with disabilities

2. Minimise wayfinding complaints

3. Reduce last-minute appointment cancellations
4. Improve patient experience and satisfaction

5. Assist volunteers in supporting patients

6. Provide multilingual guidance
RESULTS

RESULTS

The implementation has had a profound impact on patient and visitor experiences.
● Enhanced Accessibility: Empowered patients and visitors to navigate the hospital independently, increasing their confidence during visits.
● Operational Efficiency: The solution reduced demand on front desk staff, reallocating 1.0 FTE and saving over $81,000 annually.
Since 2020, SVHS has deployed real-time, step-by-step navigation via the BindiMaps mobile app. In 2024 SVHS piloted seven kiosks throughout the hospital. The pilot saw impressive results, with an 89% increase in BindiMaps app usage and an average of 300 Kiosk sessions per month. In 2025, SVHS renewed partnership launching BindiWeb with deep links for appointment notices and offering hyperlocal for incredible indoor accuracy.
